National Defence University Admissions, Spring 2018

National Defence University is offering admissions for spring 2018 in BS, M Phil and Ph. D programs with unique specializations. Considering the short and long term economic, political situation and international relations of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, these programs are especially designed to cope up with the future situation and have a vast and high scope.

 

The details of the programs are below

BS Programs (4 years)

  • Government and Public Policy (GPP)
  • Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS)
  • Strategic Studies (SS)
  • International Relations (IR)
  • Leadership and Management Studies (LMS)

 

Eligibility criteria plus required information

  • Intermediate or equivalent from an accredited Board/Institute with minimum 2nd
  • Merit shall be determined on the basis of previous academic records (SSC+HSSC), ETC entry test and interview.
  • Candidates awaiting result can also apply on provisional basis, their merit shall be determined on HSSC (Part 1) marks. They shall be required to submit the complete results with minimum 2nd Division by 26th of February 2018, failing which their provisional admission will stand cancelled.
  • Candidates having foreign certificates (O/A Levels) should provide their equivalence from Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) with admission form. In case the IBCC equivalence is delayed, merit shall be determined with minimum eligibility criteria of 2nd Division, an undertaking to this effect shall be required to be submitted, applicants are required to submit the IBCC equivalence by 26th of February 2018, failing which their provisional admission shall stand cancelled.
  • In every discipline, two seats are reserved for FATA, one for Baluchistan and Gilgit Baltistan quota respectively. To avail this facility, a valid domicile certificate is required.
  • Admitted candidates shall be required to submit their respective board attested certificates by the end of first semester.
  • Submission of original ETC test (HAT-UG ’A’) results are required for consideration of merit.

 

M Phil Programs (2 years)

  • Government and Public Policy (GPP)
  • Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS)
  • Strategic Studies (SS)
  • International Relations (IR)
  • Leadership and Management Studies (LMS)

 

Eligibility criteria plus required information

  • Masters or equivalent degree / BS (4 years) in the relevant field (16 years of schooling) with minimum 2nd division in annual system, minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 CGPA in semester system from a reputed HEC recognized university/DAI.
  • Candidates having foreign certificates/degrees should provide HEC equivalence of minimum 16 years schooling and conversion of the letter grades into marks from HEC/respective University for consideration of merit calculation. Applications without numeric ratings shall be evaluated with minimum eligibility criteria of 2nd division for annual based degrees / CGPA 2.5 for semester based degrees. In case of CGPA, it will be converted into its respective percentage.
  • Valid GAT (General Aptitude Test) with minimum 50 marks.
  • Complete transcript is required to be submitted with admission form submission.
  • Merit shall be determined on the basis of previous academic records (BA/BSc+MA/MSc or BS Honors), NDU entry test and interview.
  • Candidates are required to bring original documents at the time of interview and submit their HEC attested degree during 1st
  • Applicants can apply in two programs, however they must appear in both entry tests and interviews for consideration of merit.
  • Submission of ‘original’ migration certificate from last attended university by 26th of February, 2018.

 

Ph. D Programs (3 years)

  • Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS)
  • Leadership and Management Studies (LMS)

 

Eligibility criteria plus required information

  • M Phil/MS degree (18 years of education) or its equivalent in a relevant subject with minimum 1st division in annual system or minimum 3.0/4.0 CGPA in semester system from an HEC recognized University/DAI.
  • Candidates having foreign certificates or degrees should provide HEC equivalence of minimum 17/18 years of education of the letter grades into marks/CGPA from HEC / respective university for consideration of merit calculation. Applications without numeric ratings shall be evaluated with minimum eligibility criteria of 1st division for annual based degrees / CGPA 3.0 for semester based degrees. In case of CGPA, it will be converted into its respective percentage.
  • Valid GAT (S) Management Sciences with minimum 60 marks from NTS/GAT (S) (PCS with 70% marks) prior to the NDU entry test/interview.
  • Complete transcript will be required at the time of admission for submission. Result awaiting cases will not be considered.
  • Candidates applying for admissions are required to submit Ph. D research proposal with admission form including a statement of interest (5-8 pages) that addresses the reasons for choosing the Ph. D program and the field of study.
  • Candidates are required to bring original documents at the time of interview and submit their HEC attested degree within 1st
  • Merit shall be determined on the basis of previous academic record (MS/M Phil) and research proposal/interview/test.
  • Submission of migration certificate from the last attended university by 26th February 2018.

 

Important notes

  • GAT (general) and NDU entry tests for M Phil will be held at the university,
  • NTS need based scholarships are available in M Phil programs.
  • HEC need based scholarships are available in BS programs.
  • Some scholarships will be offered to the students who will earn top positions in BS/M Phil/ Ph. D programs in Strategic Studies (SS) department.

 

Admission Instructions

  • Online admissions application forms are available at the website ndu.edu.pk/fcs/fcs_admission.php.
  • Valid email id is required to process the admission application.
  • After completing the online form, take a print and courier the form along with two sets of documents (HEC attested documents) as per checklist on the admission form and pay order/demand draft of PKR 2,000/- in favor of “NDU Islamabad” or system generates paid fee voucher payable at any branch of HBL in Pakistan.
  • Online application processing facility is available on campus from 9.00 am till 3.00 pm.

Other charges will be included separately with the original amount of admission application, they include.

  • HAT-UG “A” test fee PKR 500/- only for BS applicants who want to appear in HAT and NDU through ETC, HEC.
  • GAT (General) fee PKR 1,000/- for M Phil applicants who want to appear in GAT (G) at NDU through NTS.
  • GAT (subject) fee PKR 1,500/- for Ph. D applicants who want to appear in GAT (S) at NDU through NTS.

  • Government and Public Policy (GPP) 10.55 am to 11.40 am
  • Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS) 1.40 pm to 2.25 pm
  • Strategic Studies (SS) 11.50 am to 12.35 pm
  • International Relations (IR) 10.00 am to 10.45 am
  • Leadership and Management Studies (LMS) 12.45 am to 1.30 pm

 

Timeline that will be followed

  • 5th December 2017. Last date of submission of applications.
  • 13th December 2017. ETC test (HAT_UG “A”) and interviews for BS programs 9.30 am sharp.
  • 14th December 2017. GAT (G) for M Phil candidates at 10.00 am sharp.
  • 14th December 2017. GAT (S) for Mgt Sci / PCS for Ph. D candidates at 10.00 am.
  • 26th December 2017. Ph. D entry test of the candidates who passed GAT (S) at 10.00 am.
  • 26th December 2017. M Phil entry tests / interviews of GAT (G) passed candidates.
  • 1st January 2018. Ph. D research proposals evaluation.
  • 2nd January 2018. Display of BS merit list.
  • 2nd January 2018. Display of M Phil merit list.
  • 22nd January 2018. Last date for submission of fee.
  • 29th January 2018. Commencement of the spring semester 2018 in all classes.
