Community for Water Informatics and Technology, Lahore University of Management Sciences (WIT-LUMS) presents “Worldwide Symposium on History and Future of Indus Basin Connecting: Water to Culture, Economy and Technology”.

Event will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 – 9:00am at Ali Auditorium, Ali Institute of Education, as a part of a mega event Lahore Science Mela (LSM).

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

Set on a journey through the interesting environmental history of water in the Indus Basin related developments in our historical past to contemporary issues in water asset governance, to have the capacity to illuminate open doors for the fate of the region. Beginning from an analysis of early water systems in Pre-Mughal and Mughal periods, through the impact of colonial transformations of the Indus Basins irrigation work, to post independence chain of events shaping contemporary water resource governance in the Indus Basin – this symposium will permit members to understand the association between authentic mediations in the Basin and contemporary issues.

The symposium will be housed as a part of the Lahore Science Mela to have the capacity to draw in both specialized and non-specialized members to value the natural history of water in the area. Existing water professionals, engineers, scientists, researchers will be able to draw connections between the science of water and the history of water, whereas non-technical group of onlookers will be able to appreciate the narrative on rich interplay and the central role of water in history, politics, economics and culture of the Indus Basin.
